Sizing for gravel ranges widely and is extracted specifically for its intended use. Gravel’s lack of water retention is one of the factors that makes it a staple in a variety landscaping projects, especially in locations with heavy rain and snowfall.
Gravel’s versatility has become an integral part of past and modern infrastructure. Gravel is predominantly used to pave roads and pathways when mixed with asphalt or construction fill.
As a surface material it can also extend its use to dog runs, playgrounds and gardens. Gravel is great for traction in all weather and mitigates the appearance of weeds and plant overgrowth. Though not common in Saskatchewan, gravel is also used as a surface for flat roofs.
Gravel is often perceived to only be used on roads. However, gravel is utilized as a structural foundation in several trades and branches of the construction industry. For example, gravel is one of the main components for graded sewer and watermain backfills.
Extracting gravel can be done in two ways. One is the process of excavating an aggregate pit, as gravel is a naturally occurring byproduct. The other method is to grind and sort through viable rocks and minerals to produce a specific type or grade of gravel.
As with all our products, quality is of the utmost importance. All our excavation sites are tested before, during and after the dig to maintain the quality and precision we pride ourselves on.
Our gravel products are defined mainly by their application and uses. While the majority of our products are used in road and pathway infrastructure, the gravel we produce has ample practical uses beyond this.
Here is a breakdown of our most popular gravel products:
